Handover
Before handover is complete a number of procedures have to be followed. The designer or architect should check and oversee the testing and commissioning of all equipment. The fitting-out contractor should hand over to you all test reports, warranties, certificates and operational and maintenance manuals. You should also receive originals of all Local Authority Approvals. The design team should arrange for providing training and demonstration in the use of all equipment installed. You should be aware that handover is not the same as practical completion. There are many other aspects related to handover, and you should take the advice of a construction lawyer if you are in any doubt.

Occupation & Takeover
Quite separate from the design and construction process, occupying a building with all the attendant issues including staffing, operating and maintenance become your responsibility. A look back at your selection criteria in will highlight these factors once again.
